It’s no secret that we at Top Vegas Pizza absolutely love pizza. Let’s dive into the reasons why we think pizza is the best food.
Billions of pizzas are eaten every year in the U.S. Heck, we’ve probably eaten a billion ourselves. It’s one of the most popular foods in the world and certainly in Las Vegas, where there are hundreds, if not thousands, of pizza shops around the city and its surrounding areas. That brings us to our first reason why pizza is the best food.
Get It Just About Anytime, Anywhere
Las Vegas is a 24/7 city, especially down on the Strip, where the bright lights of the casinos beam radiant until the sun comes up. Like the city of Las Vegas, pizza rarely sleeps. No matter the time, you can likely chomp down on a slice from one of the abundant pizza shops.
The accessibility to being able to get yourself some pizza just about anytime and anywhere isn’t specific to Las Vegas. This goes for just about any major city in the U.S. Of course, in the “off hours” of the world, you’ll likely have to search a little harder to find yourself some pizza, but it can be done.
There’s a Style of Pizza for Everyone
In addition to being one of the most delightful foods out there, pizza is extremely versatile. Part of that versatility is the numerous styles of pizzas that one can feast on. These different styles offer flavors and characteristics all their own, with each style commonly associated with a region of the world, especially in the U.S.
But as we discussed in our first-ever post, Las Vegas is a bit of a melting pot, with its residents coming from all over to make the city their home. With Las Vegas being such a transient city, it’s home to a variety of regional food culture. In Las Vegas, one can find New York-style pizza, Neapolitan pizza, Chicago deep dish pizza, Sicilian pizza, Grandma pies, and more. Each style comes with its own twist, and everything from the crust to the sauce to the cheese can vary.
The best part is that you can find every style of pizza in Sin City because Las Vegas has a style of pizza for everyone.
Infinite Toppings, Endless Combinations
Toppings are a main ingredient of pizza, right there with the dough/crust, sauce, and cheese for importance. Some people like a traditional cheese pizza with no additional toppings, but plenty of pizza lovers enjoy mixing and matching their favorites meats, vegetables, and even fruits to make each pie truly unique.
Some of the most common pizza toppings are pepperoni, mushrooms, bacon, sausage, onions, peppers, ham, pineapple, chicken, pulled pork, ground beef, prosciutto, meatballs, tomatoes, spinach, anchovies, olives, basil, garlic, and broccoli. We could keep going, but we’d run out of space.
You get the point, though. There are infinite toppings one can put on a pizza, some very good and some very bad. With so many toppings available, the combinations are endless. When you combine the variety of pizza styles with the boundless options for toppings, there really is no food more adaptable than pizza.
Pizza Is Perfect for Any Occasion
Remember the catchy Bagel Bites song that started with “Pizza in the morning, pizza in the evening, pizza at suppertime?” That’s kind of what we’re talking about here when we say that pizza is perfect for any occasion. There’s a whole subset of breakfast pizza that a lot of establishments offer, especially those frequented for brunch, and then traditional pizza is perfect for lunch and dinner.
Pizza stands up to any event you throw at it, too. In need of an affordable meal for the whole family? Pizza has your back. Looking to give friends and family something to eat while watching the big game? Look no further than pizza. What if you’re having a birthday, graduation, or other type of party? Pizza is great for these occasions. Pizza is also a great option to order into the office to treat the staff or to help the company power through some overtime hours. With so many styles and toppings available, you’ll easily be able to provide wide variety so that no one is left out. Many pizza shops also offer catering or party-size pies.
It Brings People Together
It’s almost impossible to find someone who doesn’t like pizza, which makes it almost impossible for you to go wrong when serving it at any occasion. In a world where it’s hard to find things that everyone can agree on, nearly everyone can agree that pizza is wonderful.
Pizza can be easily shared and it’s a great food to have in a group, as we just talked about. Stick a pie in the middle of a group of people and it’s an instant conversation starter and the perfect centerpiece. Good food brings people together, so if pizza is the best food out there, then you know everyone is going to be having a good time eating it.
You Won’t Break the Bank with Pizza
Are there expensive pizza options out there? Sure, there are pricey options for everything. Most of the time, you won’t need to break the bank to indulge in some pizza. A large pie will usually run you around $15-$25. That’s not bad at all. If you need to pick up a couple of pies to feed a large group of people, you can generally get away with one large pie for every three or four people, so you’re only spending a couple of bucks per person but providing a lot of appetizing grub.
More and more pizza shops are offering up pizza by the slice these days. If you’re in a rush or just don’t feel the need to chomp down on a whole pie, stop into a pizza joint and grab a slice or two for a couple bucks each. They’ll heat it up for you in their awesome oven and you’ll be satisfied before you know it.
Pizza Has a Little Bit of Everything
We talked about all of the different styles of pizza one can find and the countless toppings one can add to a pie. Additionally, pizza has a little bit of everything when it comes to the flavors it offers. Pizzas are rich in flavor. They’re fatty, sweet, and savory all at the same time. The crust if full of delicious carbs. The melted cheese oozes with fatty protein that makes our mouths water. The sauce and the toppings add to the richness of it all.
Pizza smacks all of our senses right in the face as all of the flavors work in combination with one another quite like nothing we’ve ever tasted. Pizza has a little bit of everything and somehow, someway it all works together magically to make pizza the best food in the world.
Good for Leftovers
For some of us, it can be tough to eat a whole pizza in one sitting. Or we’ve ordered too much pizza. Whatever the case may be, having leftover pizza is common, but leftover pizza is another reason why pizza is hands down the best food. Most pizzas reheat just fine, so you can store leftovers in the fridge and pull them out later to eat. You can have leftover pizza for breakfast or lunch the next day, or you can take your leftover pizza and turn it into something else.
Pizza lasagna is a thing. We’ve had it and it isn’t half bad. If you’re a fan of Italian food, you’ll likely enjoy it as well. You can find plenty of recipes online with a simple Google search. You can chop up a piece of leftover pizza and add it to an omelette in the morning or as a topping on a salad later in the day. A salad with pizza on it? Where do we sign up? A recent leftover pizza hack we became aware of was taking two pieces and putting them together top to top. You can add some more cheese in between before you put them together and then briefly heat up both sides in a pan or skillet to create a pizza grilled cheese sandwich.
Don’t Sleep On Frozen Pizza
Frozen pizza won’t be the same as getting a piping hot pie from your favorite pizza joint, but it’s an option that shouldn’t be overlooked. The availability of frozen pizza has grown a lot in recent years. Just go to your local grocery store and check out the frozen foods aisle. You’ll find a huge selection of frozen pizzas from many different brands and coming in different types of styles. The quality has increased over the years and frozen pizza can be quite good.
It never hurts to pick up a couple of frozen pies and store them in your freezer for times when you really want some pizza and don’t feel like going out to get it or waiting an hour for delivery. They’re also great if you don’t feel like cooking or your teenage kids are home and wondering what to eat. Frozen pizzas don’t require a ton of prep, can be ready within 15-20 minutes, and don’t require you to leave the comfort of your own home.
Even You (Yes, You!) Can Make Pizza
We love the ability to make our own pizza, from scratch, if we want. The end result may not be something you could quit your job and open up your own pizza joint with, but it’s not too difficult to make a pizza from start to finish. Anyone with some general baking know-how and experience around the kitchen should be able to figure it out and produce a pretty enjoyable pie.
When making your own pizza, the internet is your friend. Google and YouTube are excellent resources to find just about everything you need from ingredients, recipe steps, and more.
When making you’re own pizza, the most difficult part will likely be the dough. If you’re really worried about the dough, you can always head to the grocery store and pick up an already-made pizza crust. Most grocery stores will have them and then you can just add your favorite sauce, cheese, and other toppings to it before tossing it in the oven to bake. If you want to get a little more serious but still aren’t quite sure you want to make your own dough from scratch, call up your local pizza shop and ask them if they’ll sell you a ball or two of dough. Many will and you’re on your way.
Most home ovens will do when making your own pizza, but there are several home pizza ovens available for purchase. Ooni and Roccbox are two popular brands of pizza ovens. Breville even makes one. Once again, let the internet be your friend.
