Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana - margherita pizza

Pizza Review: Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana

Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana has two locations in the Las Vegas area. One is in Henderson over by Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa & Casino. The other is in the Village Square shopping center on the corner of Sahara and Fort Apache. Whichever location you decide on, you’ll get the same thing. Pizza Napoletana is the style of pizza that Settebello specializes in, or in other words, Neapolitan pizza.

Good Neapolitan Pizza

Pizza Napoletana is what pizza in Napoli is like. It’s made with tender pizza dough. The end result is a soft crust that some might consider wet or even soggy, but that’s simply the style. The pizza is cooked very quick, fired up in a blazing hot oven that causes distinct charring on the delicately made crust, oftentimes where air bubbles puff the crust. The soft crust has a melt-in-your-mouth feel to it. This type of pizza can be hard to pick up like you would do with a normal NY-style slice, and that’s why it is often eaten with a knife and fork.

There is little doubt that anything that goes into making a pizza at Settebello isn’t fresh. Everything from the smell to the touch to the taste screams freshness. The softness of the dough is light to the touch and some of the most common ingredients you’ll find are juicy tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, and olive oil. Don’t be alarmed when you see your Settebello pizza and it looks like there is more sauce than cheese, because there likely is. That’s part of the style.

In order for a Neapolitan pizza to be considered “authentic,” it must meet certain requirements. The dough must be made with a certain type of flour – the most refined flour you can find – yeast, salt, and water, and then it must be formed by hand. Only two types of mozzarella cheese are allowed, too. There are some other rules, but we won’t get too deep into it. Portion sizing for Neapolitan pizzas is on the smaller side, which is what you’ll find at Settebello. Don’t expect to roll in, order an 18-inch large pie, and chop it up among your family or friends. Each Settebello pizza is best suited for one person, maybe two, which is fine because it’s on the lighter side. The lightness of the dough and less cheese used help make this pizza less filling, but Settebello certainly doesn’t lack flavor.

Pricing isn’t bad. Expect to pay in the range of $10 to $20 for a pizza, but don’t forget to pair it with a nice glass or bottle of wine. If we’re going to have pizza that’s supposed to be straight like it is from Italy, then we’re going all in on the experience.

At Settebello, we’re fans of the Margherita pizza, which is one of Settebello’s most popular pies. It’s a simple pie with tomatoes, mozzarella, parmigiano, basil, and oil, but it’s quite delicious. We’ve also enjoyed the Marinara, Bianca, Quattro Formaggi, and Pizza Pere E Jalapeno. If you’re into cheese and different types on one pizza, then go for the Quattro Formaggi, which means “four cheese.” It comes with fontina, gorgonzola, mozzarella, and parmigiano cheeses. For those with a more exotic palette, try the Pizza Pere E Jalapeno. This unique pie comes with pear slices and jalapeno marmalade, in addition to other ingredients. Crazy, right? Many of the pizzas also come in a gluten-free option.

Pizza Napoletana has grown in popularity across the United States and also in Las Vegas. If Neapolitan pizza is what you fancy, then Settebello will be right up your alley. The pizza is good, the ingredients are certainly unique, and you can taste how fresh everything is. One mistake we do see people make a little too often is thinking that pizza Napoletana is the same as New York-style pizza. It’s not. Neapolitan pizza and New York-style pizza are very much different things. Don’t head out to eat a Neapolitan pizza if you’re looking for a NY-style slice. That said, we at Top Vegas Pizza recommend trying Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana. Even if Neapolitan pizza ends up not being your go-to style, you likely won’t be disappointed by checking out Settebello.
